A roll is a reel of film wound onto a core or spool. The winder at the end of a blown film line collects the film produced as rolls. Film is also fed to printing and bag-making machines as rolls; this makes the roll the intermediate product that passes from one stage of production to the next.
A properly wound roll makes the following steps easier. A loosely or conically wound roll can cause slipping and wrinkling in printing, and dimensional deviations on the bag-making machine. Each roll carries a label with the film type, thickness, width and production details. Rolls that have undergone corona treatment are, wherever possible, processed without long storage.
